When brushing with an ordinary manual brush with a flat-cut bristle profile, the bristles can get caught in the brackets of orthodontic appliances and cause discomfort. That is why scientists at the SPLAT Innovation Laboratory developed the innovative SPLAT® SMILEX ORTHO+ orthodontic toothbrush with a U-shaped cut-out and two types of bristles. The special recess in the centre keeps the bristles from getting caught in the brackets. The shortened bristle tips of the central rows clean the brace system, while the spiral bristles on the sides clean the tooth enamel and interdental spaces. 3,250 bristles of different heights do not damage enamel or gums.
